Holly Becker's Blogging Your Way eCourse has been a truly eye-opening and inspiring learning experience. I've begun seeing everything differently, and within the second week was already looking critically at my three blogs, wondering what I intended to do with them, and where I wanted them to take me. I now have a blog plan to work on, and although the results won't be properly set into motion until next year, I was at least able to figure out a clean, fresh, new look to it for the moment.
Here's the old logo and the old blog was designed around these bright colours, mainly the blue and green:
I did love it, but I wasn't quite satisfied with the look of the whole ... it seemed cluttered to me and I struggled through countless attempts at figuring out how to handle that "too many distractions" feel.
And here's the logo in the new colours:
I've changed the colours of the blog accordingly. Now everything seems subtler, clearer and provides less distraction from the art and illustrations that I put up. It feels much lighter too, as though a load has been taken off my mind.
I'm not going to limit myself here. I plan to change those colours whenever I wish to, but working with the same subtle hues and palette mixed with pale grey. I'll also be changing the illustrations according to the season or mood of the moment, so look out for something quite Christmassy & cheerful in the near future.
It feels slightly more professional to me as well, perhaps less childish? The new look is, for some odd reason, making me take myself far more seriously and yet I don't think it has negated the delight I feel for my work and art. What do you think of it? Let me know, as I'd love to hear your views on the new colours and overall look.
