I started my Photo Inspiration series at my MUSINGS blog late last year, but, while reorganising and blog planning for the new year, decided to move it over here instead. Why? Well, the whole reason behind the series was to provide not just inspiration, but reference for my drawings and art ... and this is, after all, my Art blog!
I always have a terrible time finding copyright-free photos to draw from, which is why I started taking them myself in the first place. I lay absolutely no claim to being a photographer -- some of my shots are unmentionably terrible ... well, ok, most of them. But others do seem good enough to use as stills for drawing, or at least I hope so.
Feel welcome to use them as reference for your art as well. If you do, please do share the results as it would give me great pleasure to see them - you'd definitely make my day.
Anyway, here are a few of the many pine cones that I pick while walking through the forest daily, to add to the fire on these cold winter months. These few were temporarily saved from the flames in order to pose for these shots ...
Don't you just love their crackly rounded shapes and texture? I do. I've started a drawing with one of these as a model ... I'll put that up in a couple of days. Cheers.
