I've decided to start a Showcase series where I'll introduce you to the artists, crafters, and creatives who inspire me. It will, hopefully, be a regular weekly spot ... fingers crossed, as I'm still in the midst of a huge work, blog and life reorganization.
I'm starting the Showcase series off with Holly Becker, not just because she's a huge source of inspiration but because it's due to her that my blog is changing and, hopefully improving, in so many ways. I've been a fan of Holly's ever since I discovered her Decor8 blog a few years back, where every single post is beautiful and creatively inspiring. I love flicking through the pages of Home Decor magazines for ideas, and her site had essentially that same feel ... lovely homes and interiors, patterns and colours, and suggestions to motivate one's artistic soul.
So when she brought out her first book, I wanted it. It's taken me some time but I finally got my greedy hands on it and I can't stop myself from constantly flicking through it, discovering new things and getting inspired by the gorgeous interiors, clarity and light, tons of ideas, and amazing photographs on every single page.
Then of course there's the second--hugely important personally--reason for starting this Showcase series with Holly's blog and books ... in October I took her Blogging Your Way bootcamp e-course, and it has made me seriously reconsider the way I blog ... if you find any improvements here this year it's all due to that excellent course and the personalities behind it. Mistakes and failures are all my own as I experiment in the constant attempt at improvement!
If you're serious about blogging but have no idea of how to approach it, check the course out as it's definitely well worth your time. It's not only changing the way I blog but the way I perceive everything around me. Brilliant.
