Life seems to be composed of quick sketches at present. Have been busy with the business and with sorting out priorities and, ironically, my main priority -- my art -- seems to have suffered the consequences. I have to set that straight, but meanwhile here's a sketch I did yesterday of some lovely white tulips I bought at the markets ... and a couple of images of the sketch in my moleskine journal:
Here I am, below, drawing from the photographs I had taken of the flowers. I normally draw from photographs if I'm working in coloured pencils just because the play of shadows changes so rapidly and working in pencils takes time, so I took photos just in case the tulips decided to flounder before I could 'capture' them.
And here's another pic, taken while I was adding bits of colour. I didn't want to colour the whole thing in as I was hoping to maintain a sketchier, looser look. That might change later, I'm not sure yet:
The tulips looked so pretty in real life, all white and green with soft shades of blue, and that's what I was trying to portray. Let's hope I caught at least a bit of that sense of sweetness. Have a wonderful day! Cheers.
