Wow. Phew. This has been a tough tough week. Turning the painting of my cups (see last post, here) into a finished piece for the last assignment of my Make Art That Sells Course has absorbed me completely, been full of challenges, and been frustrating, to say the least. There were so many options, and such an infinite variety of ways that this could be accomplished, and yet I was happy with none of the results.
It took days, and taking a break from it all -- as it was getting impossible to 'see' the piece objectively -- until I was finally content enough with one of the results to submit it. Here it is:
What do you think? The fact that there were so many alternatives to choose from just goes to show how great this class has been. I've learned so much, and oh my, I could have picked from so many ideas whirling through my mind - botanicals to go with the cups, a storyline with snails and characters, and so so much more, but there were time constraints to consider, and the deadline was looming! So I opted to stick to the grid idea though even that posed it's own set of problems.
Here are a few of the pieces that were started, then discarded. If one of them strikes you as something I should finish up, please do let me know as I can no longer view them with any objectivity whatsoever at the moment.
This first one below is the one submitted above, and under that are just a couple from the many others that remain sadly unfinished in their folders ...
It's now time to sit back with some soothing tea (once I've picked the right cup to have it in) and sit in the sun for a bit before clearing up my workspace, cleaning up a house and garden that have been largely ignored the last few days, organizing the bits of my business that have scarily accumulated while I was 'looking away', and then starting work on the next project. My mind is full to bursting with ideas, and I'm so looking forward to a summer of painting and exploration after the wonderful things that I've learned from this e-course. Thank you, Lilla Rogers!
Wishing everyone of you a glorious day. Cheers.
